Famous Residents
Hall Green has been the home of many famous residents which include J.R.R. Tolkien who lived as a child in Hall Green and gained inspiration for the Hobbit’s home and Lord of the Rings books from the nearby Moseley Bog. Further residents have included the racing commentator, Murray Walker who was born in Reddings Lane, Formula One racing car driver Nigel Mansell who spent much of his childhood and early adult years in Hall Green and the famous comedian Tony Hancock who lived in Southam Road.

Transport
Hall Green enjoys excellent transport facilities and links. The A34 cuts through the centre of Hall Green with regular bus services into Birmingham city centre. Motorway links are easily accessible and there are two railway stations in the area on the Birmingham to Stratford upon Avon Line.
Education
There are a number of excellent schools in Hall Green including, Yorkmead School, St. Ambrose Barlow Catholic School, Chilcote Primary School, Lakey Lane Junior and Infants School, Robin Hood Primary School and Hall Green Infants, Junior and Secondary Schools. The South and City College (formerly Hall Green College) is also situated on the Stratford Road.
History and Architecture
Sarehole Mill situated in Hall Green is one of only two watermills in the City powered by the River Cole. The historic Church of the Ascension is situated on School Road and was formerly the Job Marston Chapel which was built in 1704 and designed by Sir William Wilson, with the chancel and transepts added in 1860.
The Hamlet, a private housing development was built between 1883 and 1893 and consists of fourteen villas on Fox Hollies and Hamlet Road, together with the Friends Meeting House on Stratford Road.
Petersfield Court is an interesting Art Deco block of flats which were built in 1937.
